About me

Hello everyone!

This is my Food Corner. At least, that’s what I’m going to try shape over time.

I’d like to create a place where I can collect all my recipes, ideas and tips. But also a place to share and to inspire other people. I’d like to show simple recipes for everyday cooking that are quick, simple and very tasteful. But also dishes that are great when you have a bit more time on your hands.

I started cooking at a young age. Baking, baking and a bit more baking. Apple-pies, cakes and pretty much all other forms of sweat treats that would rise and turn golden in the oven. Then I slowly started getting a grip on cooking dinner by helping mum and inventing way too elaborate dinners at Christmas before just taking over the kitchen completely a few years ago.

Difficult, time consuming and expensive. That’s how you could describe my cooking in the beginning. Trying to jump from kitchen-helper to master chef to prove I could cook and in the mean while losing sight of what it was all about; the love for food and cooking and making a good meal people would enjoy.

Only recently I learned what real cooking is all about. Making ends meet and allergies completely changed my cooking. I went back to the basics of things. I started looking for recipes that learned me basic skills and techniques. I experimented with different herbs and spices to try and make a potato into a first class crisp.

I now cook more creatively which resulted in some of the best left-over-meals. I’m still not a trained chef, I’m just a girl who likes to cook and do it in the best way she can. A load of things fail and end up in the bin, but that’s good. That’s when I learn the most and often have the most fun and determination to try again.. and again.. and a bit more.

I really hope you all enjoy reading my blog and see where this is going.

P.s. And on a little side note: I’m writing in English to make it more accessible, but my first language is Dutch. So excuse any mistakes, I’m doing the best I can.
